Venue of the Meeting

1. InnovAsia 2005 will be held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand.
2. The conference and exhibition will take place from 21-23 September 2004.
3. The official conference hotels are the Plaza Athenee Hotel Bangkok and the Ambassador Hotel, Bangkok.
4. For your convenience, the NIA-UNESCO Secretariat will be available for pre-registration at the Plaza Athenee Hotel and the Ambassador Hotel, on Tuesday 20th September, from 13:00 to 18:00.

Registration of Partcipants and Reception Service

Participants may enroll in advance for the Conference by completing the enrollment form online at http//www.nia.or.th/innovasia. Payment instructions are also provided at this location. You will receive confirmation by e-mail once we have received confirmation of payment of the registration fee. We will also issue a receipt for the registration fee, to be collected at the registration desk.

Upon registration at the Conference participants will receive a complete set of documents, a name badge and other relevant documentation. For security reasons, participants are requested to wear their badges throughout the duration of the Conference to facilitate identification and contact with other participants and members of the Secretariat.

Accommodation

It is recommended that participants stay at the official conference hotel for their convenience. To take advantage of the discounted InnovAsia room rates, please use the Reservation form provided on this website and e-mail or fax directly to the hotel.

Participants are requested to send the completed reservation directly to the official hotels via e-mail or fax. no later than July 30th, 2005 to ensure room availability according to your preference.

Opening Ceremony

The First Asia-Pacific Conference and Exhibition on Innovation Mangement- InnovAsia 2005- will open punctually at 09:00 a.m. on Wednesday 21st September 2005 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, (see updated programme). Participants are therefore requested to arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand.

Working Documents

Participants should be advised that the Secretariat will not be able to undertake the typing, translation or reproduction of documents.

Working Languages

The official working language of the Conference will be English.

On-Site Facilities

Fax, telephone and internet services will be available at cost at the Conference Secretariat. During the Conference participants will be able to receive their mail at the Conference desk. Banks, travel agencies, medical centre, newspaper stand and restaurants are all available to participants within reasonable walking distance of the conference venue. A Press Centre will also be available for the use of journalists covering the event.

Entry Formalities for Thailand

All participants travelling to Thailand must be in possession of a valid passport, with an entry visa if required. Citizens of ASEAN member countries do not require a visa to enter Thailand. Participants are requested to contact the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in their own country for further information on this subject. For the latest information concerning visa and visa exemption, please visit the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand (www.mfa.go.th).

Health Regulations

Participants are advised to consult their travel agency or airline for any further information they may require on this issue.

Reception on Arrival

Participants travelling by air will find an information desk at the Bangkok International Airport for any practical information regarding transport to their hotels. Transport by shuttle vans between the airport and the Sofitel Central Plaza Hotel will be provided by the hotel. After completing immigration and customs procedures at the airport, participants will be greeted by a local representative holding an InnovAsia 2005 signboard. Participants wishing to use the hotel pick-up service, should indicate this in the attached accommodation reservation form.

Customs Formalities

Participants are advised to consult their travel agency or airline for customs regulations on entering Thailand.

Currency

The monetary unit is the Baht. The official exchange rate as of June 2005:

These rates are liable to fluctuation and may be modified without prior warning. All major credit cards are accepted in Thailand (American Express, Master Card, Visa, Diners Club). Cash machines can be found in banks.

Transport

Buses, and metered taxis are available from the hotel to the airport, shopping and entertainment areas. The Morchit skytrain terminal is 15 minutes on foot from the hotel, or a short taxi ride.

Climate and Clothing

Expect some cloud and rain during September, as this will be during the rainy season. The temperature ranges from around 24 to 36 degrees Celsius. Participants are advised to bring light clothing. The suggested dress code for social functions is informal wear. (Air conditioning inside buildings can be very cold).

Electricity

The voltage in Thailand is 220 Volts a.c.

Language

Thai is the national and official language while English is widely spoken and understood in major cities, particularly in Bangkok and in business circles.
